Umlazi township's brewed adult contemporary singer/pianist Sanele Phakathi will be performing the high-quality melodies and harmonies at Sound Café in Ballito on the 15th December from 19:00 till late.
Phakathi and his band (The Sanele Phakathi Quartet), are currently performing at a variety of venues. His repertoire is a mixture of original music coupled by his personal and soulful renditions of a few well known covers, which will surely to get Jazz and soul lovers moving to the music. He started playing the piano at the age of 17 and his personal sound bears reference to the sound of yesteryear soul and jazz legends that he in turn refers to as his musical inspirations, such as jazz legends George Benson, Nat King Cole, Al Jarreau and Bheki Mseleku, whilst on the soul music side, he credits Frank McComb, Stevie Wonder, Musiq Soulchild and Donny Hathaway as his inspirations.
Sanele is widely known for playing the piano/keys for SA’s well-known and celebrated jazz musicians such as Mbuso Khoza, Xolisa Dlamini, Nomfundo Xaluva, Philani Ngidi, Brian Thusi, Zakes Bantwini, Linda Sikhakhane, Zoë Modiga and Salim Washington to name a few. His band for Sound Café will consist of Phumlani Mtiti on saxophone, Dalisu Ndlazi on bass guitar and Riley Giandhari on drums.
