After successful releases of his albums, Amanz' Olwandle and Rotha, piano player Sibusiso Mash Mashiloane wants to let his audience zoom into the music with a smaller set up; the Mash Trio. Since most of Mash's music was developed from a piano perspective, it is now time to break down the music by presenting it in trio format.
Audiences will hear the acoustic traditional jazz that radiates South African heritage sounds and universal jazz influences. Mash will also be sharing his music influence by Coltrane’s harmonic movements, combined with his African influences within the melody and most notably references to South African tribal and spiritual sounds.
Since his music is largely inspired by traditional dancers (ukugida) and the drums they use (isigubhu), Mash has added Tlale Makhene on percussion to the bill. The combination of percussion and piano will be complemented by third member: Ariel Zamonsky on double bass.
