Johnny Cradle hail from Johannesburg, South Africa.
With roots from the Eastern Cape and Ga-rankuwa in Gauteng, these 80s kids show off a diverse influence behind their township slang isiXhosa/English lyrics.
In three years Johnny Cradle have graced multiple stages including formidable festivals such as the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown (2015), Oppikoppi (2016/2017), and the 4th Hugh Masekela Heritage Festival (2017).
Johnny Cradle’s self-titled debut album shows off the trio’s knack for deep haunting back beats, landscape guitar lines, bullying moog-infused bass lines, and socially conscious manifestos.
Taut and lean, Cradle’s debut boasts a collection of songs that are cerebral as much as they are dance-able. When these gentlemen are on stage, expect a feel-good rhythm drive perspective from a people that are proud to be Xhosa and Tsonga.
