Albino Mbie

The Orbit Jazz Club
Tue 20 February   /   R100

Berklee College of Music graduate, Albino Mbie, is a Mozambican guitarist and vocalist built his first guitar from a five litre can of oil, scrap wood, and electric cords at the tender age of 16. Drawn to the street music of Maputo, Mbie soon started playing with bands in the local scene.

For his first time at The Orbit, Mbie brings a band of fellow Berklee graduates to present his music to Joburg and South African audiences.

Mbie makes music that aims to combine disparate entities into an organic whole while retaining their unique, undiluted flavours. The music of his native Mozambique coupled with his experiences living in the US, and traveling many other places in the world, overlap pleasingly to treat the audience’s ear to n original sound of Afro-pop meets Moz-Jazz.

Imbued with a worldly energy, Mbie’s incredibly approachable music exudes sophistication and simplicity.

R100 per ticket (students come in at half price, just bring your student card). Come and have dinner and drinks while enjoying the sensational sounds.

We advise booking in advance, please contact us on 011 339 6645 / 081 534 2867 or email us at info@theorbit.co.za to do so.
